Soft Wood is a crafting item in Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5. It is a short chunk of a log used for forging certain pieces of equipment, mostly weapons with prominent wooden parts. In both of its appearances so far, it can be bought at any Material Shop for 360 gold.

In EBF4, Soft Wood has a single stub of a twig on one side and a brown interior with a darker brown swirl in the middle; the latter matches the color of its bark. 103 pieces are needed to complete all of the relevant upgrades, with a significant number being used for the Sky Feather.

In EBF5, Soft Wood became slightly lighter in color, with a beige interior lacking any noticeable markings. It also has three twig stubs around its edge, one of which has a single green leaf. In order to upgrade everything, 120 pieces will be needed; over half of that goes towards forging The Chopper and the Star Hammer.

Drop Rate

Soft Wood is mostly dropped by foes made of wood or wielding wooden weapons. Additionally, it has a 30% chance to drop when cutting down trees with The Axe.

Trivia

• The Oak Staff and the Fairy Bow are the only pieces of equipment to utilize Soft Wood in both EBF4 and EBF5.
• So far, the EBF5 version of the Death Mask is the only non-weapon equipment to require Soft Wood for forging.
• Soft Wood could be considered the successor of Old Wood from Epic Battle Fantasy 3, having a similar appearance and forging applications.
