ANGRY CHAIR

ANGRY CHAIR is a miniboss and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5 introduced in the v2 update. It is found in a secret room behind the kitchen linked to the Equipment Shop in Hope Harbor.

Appearance

ANGRY CHAIR is a wooden chair rendered in an 8-bit style. It has a brown frame with four legs, bars along its back, and a rounded backrest. Its seat and backrest have darker brown cushions, and the latter also has a pair of small white eyes with black pupils. When it attacks, it reveals a toothy mouth underneath its seat.

ANGRY CHAIR's arcade room is located in a barrel-filled basement/cellar underneath a cafe kitchen, befitting its household appliance gimmick.

Overview

Compared to the other Arcade foes, ANGRY CHAIR doesn't really have much of a gimmick. It mainly uses non-elemental physical attacks that hit multiple times; one targets a single player, while the other is more powerful and hits randomly. It also has a magic attack that can inflict Stagger and a decent Defence debuff, making its other moves more damaging. This attack is partly Bomb-based, but resistance will not have much of an effect due to the low elemental degree.

Most of the challenge from the ANGRY CHAIR fight comes from how early it becomes available; players will have very few options if they battle it at the first opportunity. In this case, what little SP the party has should be spent on the Stumpy Gloop summon; while Morale isn't a perfect defense against ANGRY CHAIR's multi-hit attacks, the status will block the Defence debuffs of its magic attack. If fought later on, ANGRY CHAIR can be easily neutralized by inflicting Syphon and having a Target tank (preferably with Invisible and/or high Defence) ready to endure their physical attacks. Since the last ANGRY CHAIR will immediately flee, it's best to focus them down one at a time.

"Weather Remix" adds Earthquake weather to the fight, so Stagger resistance can be more useful than before.

ANGRY CHAIR is weak to Fire, Wind, and Holy, is immune to Tired, Weaken, Doom, and Instant Death, and strongly resists Stun, Chill, and Freeze. It is also resistant to most stat debuffs, especially Attack and Magic Attack. With "More Foe Resistance" active, it loses its Wind and Holy weaknesses, absorbs Dark, becomes fully immune to Stun, and gains a strong Syphon/Disable resistance; additionally, it becomes more resistant to Defence and Magic Defence debuffs. When fought in the Arcade Boss Rush, its base HP is halved.

ANGRY CHAIR gains up to 24% extra Attack, Magic Attack, HP and Accuracy depending on how many optional bosses have been killed, medals awarded and monster cards obtained:

After level 11, ANGRY CHAIR gains a 5% boost to Attack and Magic Attack, and a 2.5% boost to HP and Accuracy on every level-up (these boosts stack additively, acting as a multiplier). This boost caps out at level 36.

Battle Logic

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If no other foes are left → Flee;
  • If Syphoned, catch score >55, and all players are Lovable → Flee;
  • If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Chair Stools;
  • If Berserked → Bounce;
  • If Syphoned → Bite (1/2), Bounce (1/2);
  • Otherwise → Bite (1/3), Bounce (1/3), Chair Stools (1/3).

*Bite always targets the least damaged player.

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 25% and not Syphoned → Chair Stools.

Summon

ANGRY CHAIR can be captured and used as a summon. It uses its Chair Stools to attack all enemies, dealing pure Bomb-elemental magic damage and seriously debuffing their Magic Attack.
