The Elder's Wisdom is a earth-elemental staff for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.
Description
The Elder's Wisdom is composed of a wooden shaft with a tip fashioned out of a large horn with three branches. The connection between the shaft and the tip is adorned with fur, feathers and leather ribbons; the tail of the shaft is also adorned with a small horn. Given the location it is found in, it is possible that the horns are made from the bones and tusks of a Wooly Mammoth.
Normal
The Elder's Wisdom provides an above-average boost to Magic Attack, as well as decent Magic Defence and below-average Attack. Its two main selling points are its buff boost and ability to unleash Enchantment with weapon-elemental skills. It also has a high chance to cast Big Root between turns; this deals decent damage, benefits from the staff's elemental boost, and has a chance to Poison the victim.
Although the Elder's Wisdom can be useful for an offensive support build, its abilities are somewhat contradictory in places. Natalie lacks natural Earth skills, her buffing prowess leans more magical than physical, and Big Root can use up Enchanted stacks before the party can set up a powerful physical combo. The Aquamarine or the Book of Spells also boast innate on-hit status effects to complement their Enchantment unleashes; on the other hand, the Elder's Wisdom has a better unleash chance than either of them. Natalie also has other offensive support options with comparable Magic Attack, such as the Alchemy Set or the Dark Tooth; if Magic Attack isn't needed, the Beholding Eye has the same buff boost and additional support effects.
The Elder's Wisdom resists Earth, Holy, Light, and Heavy, becoming immune to the latter two at Level 5.
Equip Remix
The Alt Elder's Wisdom is a heavy-duty offensive weapon, with a moderate amount of Attack and an impressive Magic Attack stat. However, it greatly lowers both defenses and has a significant chance to Weaken Natalie; the latter can interfere with maintaining steady offensive buffs. It empowers both Earth and Wind, while its Weapon-elemental skills can inflict Weaken on hit; the latter can also unleash Hurricane for multi-target magical Wind damage and a chance of inflicting Light.
In terms of raw magical power, the Alt Elder's Wisdom is only slightly weaker than the Alt Wrath of Zeus and has a less debilitating auto-status; however, it's also significantly frailer and boosts elements that aren't in Natalie's base kit. Ultimately, it comes down to a matter of personal preference, as Natalie can learn shared skills to take full advantage of the Alt Elder's Wisdom; as with the Alt Wrath of Zeus, status-clearing support helps to mitigate the annoyance of its auto-status. If the player wants Earth and Wind damage with less maintenance, the Alt Dragon Wings offer those boosts along with two others and no penalties; however, they're also much less powerful.
The Alt Elder's Wisdom resists Earth, Wind, Light, and Heavy. At Level 5, it becomes immune to the latter two.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5
The Elder's Wisdom is found inside a chest in the Frozen Valley, two screens west of Poseidon. The chest is guarded by a battle that appears as a Wooly Mammoth.
