The Red Pixel is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is found in the Frozen Valley Glitch Area.

Appearance

The Red Pixel's appearance is similar to the Red Bush (right down to the three variations), but lacking arms and rendered in a 16-bit fashion. Like other Pixels, it floats back and forth on the battlefield, and can come in different sizes.

Overview

The Red Pixel looks and has very similar resistances to the Red Bush, but despite what its bestiary entry suggests, they aren't similar to other bushes in any way aside from their resistances. They have high offensive stats and slightly above average Evade, giving their somewhat low powered attacks quite a bit of punch to them if not dealt with properly.

Red Pixels have 3 different attacks, the trademark Screech attack that all Bushes have, except this one deals a small amount of Magic damage, has incredible accuracy, and has a chance to lower Defence, becoming more severe and likely to happen on Hard and Epic difficulties, a partially Fire-elemental Magic attack that has a chance to inflict Dry, with the chances becoming more likely on harder difficulties, and another partially Fire attack that's Physical and may Burn the victim, or Scorch them on higher difficulties. Their chance to use their Fire Strike increases if the party has Defence debuffs, making rebuffing it or Morale useful to reduce the damage taken from it.

The Red Pixel only absorbs Water and is immune to Doom and Instant Death, while being very weak to Fire and Bio, less weak to Earth and Wind, and very vulnerable to Burn, Scorch, Stagger, Wet and Dry. Enabling "More Foe Resistance" changes their Fire and Earth weaknesses into absorptions, makes them resistant to Dark, and greatly increases their non-HP stat debuff resistance.

Battle Logic

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If catchscore >55 and all players are Lovable → Surrender;
  • If Syphoned or Berserked → Fire Strike;
  • If a randomly selected player has at least a 10% Defence debuff → Fire Strike (2/3), Drying Strike (1/3);
  • Otherwise → Fire Strike (1/3), Drying Strike (1/3), Scream (1/3).

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 50% → Fire Strike.

Summon

The Red Pixel can be captured and used as a summon. It uses a modified version of Drying Strike on a single foe, dealing light physical Fire damage and inflicting several stacks of Dry.
