Soul Pistol

The Soul Pistol is a Holy-elemental gun available for Lance in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.

Description

As per its name, the Soul Pistol resembles an giant tan pistol with a black grip and copper accents - ironically, this makes it one of Lance's smaller guns. It has a large half-circle structure (possibly an exaggerated cylinder, similar to a revolver) on the back above the trigger and a small ironsight on the barrel - it's unclear if it is functional, as the half-circle seems to obscure it.

Equipping the Soul Pistol gives Lance's revolver a copper frame with white accents and tan details (most notably the barrel) and a small copper bayonet.

Normal

The Soul Pistol has a great Attack boost (tied for the fourth-highest of any gun) and also grants small bonuses to Evade, Accuracy and both defenses. Its weapon-elemental skills (including its Double Shot counter) can apply Weaken and drain HP, giving Lance substantial durability in prolonged battles. It also unleashes Blessed Arrow as a bonus skill and boosts Holy attacks, but neither is particularly significant, especially since the former is Lance's only means to exploit the latter outside of shared skills.

The Soul Pistol's stats and effects make it a fine choice for a defensive build; notably, its Blessed Arrow unleash allows its single-target weapon-elemental skills to continue applying Weaken even when its on-hit status is changed by a Flair. However, the Crystal Wing has even better defenses and can cast Heal More between turns to benefit the entire party; the Desert Scorpion also has higher defenses in addition to a more useful elemental boost and support utility via its ability to inflict Dry. On the other hand, the Heavy Claw usually outclasses the Soul Pistol in physical offense, since its Bomb boost and high Attack gives Lance an extremely powerful Big Bullet and Machine Guns.

The Soul Pistol provides resistance to Wind, Holy, Tired and Weaken; it becomes immune to the latter two at Level 5.

Equip Remix

The Alt Soul Pistol has two elemental boosts - Holy and Wind - but Lance has no natural skills to take advantage of either. It has good Attack and Magic Attack along with a great Evade boost, and its weapon-elemental skills inflict significant Magic Attack debuffs. It can occasionally unleash Tempest (which benefits from its Wind boost), and has a high chance to summon a Steam Fish between turns, slightly damaging all foes and potentially inflicting Light.

Although it can cripple magic-focused enemies and its ability to spread Light theoretically provides openings to spam Tempest or Shockwave, the Alt Soul Pistol ultimately fails to distinguish itself from its competition. The Alt Vortex Cannon has superior Wind damage (especially with its Low Gravity auto-effect), the Alt Desert Scorpion has a better unleash-based build, and the Alt Flame Titan benefits Lance's natural skills and just does more damage in general.

The Alt Soul Pistol has Wind, Holy, Tired and Weaken resistances, with the latter two becoming an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Soul Pistol is found inside a chest in the Grand Gallery's 60 Medals Room (formerly the 55 Medals Room before the v2 update), guarded by a battle that appears as a Yellow Flybot.
