The Heavy Claw is a Bomb-elemental gun available for Lance in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, 4 and 5.

Description

The Heavy Claw is a grey gun with a large silver pincer apparatus built into the front; its claws can be seen opening and closing when idle. The gun barrel protrudes from the joint of the pincer, and a large projection extends from the top of the body. In EBF5, it gained some black elements and a matching revolver, with a small bayonet and a predominantly black frame with a few silver accents.

Throughout its appearances, the Heavy Claw has always been a purely physical gun, with great boosts to Attack, HP, and Defence at the cost of Evade. It usually has the ability to debuff enemy Defence with Lance's Weapon-elemental skills, as well as a resistance to Bomb damage.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3

The Heavy Claw gives Lance enormous Attack and HP, along with a good amount of Defence; however, this comes at the cost of a significant Evade drop. It has smaller penalties to Magic Attack, Accuracy, and Magic Defence that fade as the gun is upgraded. It can slightly lower enemy Defence with its Weapon-elemental skills, and its Unleash gives Lance a significant Defence buff.

While the Heavy Claw is a powerful physical weapon, it suffers from being wielded by a magically-inclined character and being outclassed by the Deep Blue for the unorthodox physical Lance build. However, it does provide a source of Bomb damage for Lance in Vegetable Forest before he can start developing Airstrike.

The Heavy Claw has slight resistances to Fire and Bomb, maxing out at 30%. It also has a slight Thunder weakness, which remains constant at all levels.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

The Heavy Claw greatly improves Lance's Attack and HP while giving him a fair amount of Defence, but it also lowers his Evade by a large amount. It powers up Bomb skills and its Weapon-elemental skills can occasionally inflict a decent Defence debuff; unfortunately, Lance is usually better served by the Mini Bomber due to its actually-existent Magic Attack.

The Heavy Claw resists Earth, Bomb, and Dispel, becoming immune to the latter at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

Normal

The Heavy Claw greatly reduces Evade in exchange for a little Defence, a decent amount of HP, and a huge Attack increase. It allows Lance's Weapon-elemental skills to have a good chance of debuffing enemy Defence by a fair amount; it also randomly casts Bullet Bob between turns, which benefits from its great Attack and its boost to Bomb skills. Additionally, it lives up to its name by having a high chance to make Lance Heavy between turns, reducing (but not eliminating) its own Earth resistance while increasing his Wind resistance.

The Heavy Claw is arguably Lance's best option for a Bomb-based offensive build; in this case, Lance should learn Bullet Bob/Big Bullet to have a reliable physical Bomb skill if Machine Guns is on cooldown or otherwise infeasible. In contrast, an offensive build based around the Nitro Bomber XL suffers from longer cooldowns on Lance's Bomb spells and the late availability of Energy. Equipping the Amethyst Earrings can let Lance's weapon-elemental skills inflict Dry in addition to their Defence debuff, further amplifying physical Bomb attacks; however, the Desert Scorpion is probably a better gun for applying Dry in general.

The Heavy Claw has Earth, Bomb, and Dispel resistance; at Level 5, it is completely immune to the latter.

Equip Remix

The Alt Heavy Claw is a non-elemental gun with impressive Attack and good HP, but its Magic Attack is weak and it significantly reduces Evade. It empowers non-elemental skills, allows Lance to greatly buff his Defence by Defending himself, and counters attacks with Armor Crush. Its Weapon-elemental skills have a very high chance of inflicting Stagger and a strong Defence debuff, leaving foes open to massive physical damage.

The Alt Heavy Claw is resistant to Bomb, Light, Heavy, Stagger, and Confuse. It becomes immune to all but Bomb at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3

The Heavy Claw is available from the beginning of the game as one of Lance's default guns.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Heavy Claw is found inside a chest in the No Man's Land Glitch Area. The chest sits between the two leftmost stone columns, guarded by a battle that appears as a member of the Kitten Army.
