Florn
The Florn is a foe in Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5. In EBF4, it is usually found in the Lankyroot Jungle; in EBF5, it appears in the Data Bunker following the v2 update.
Appearance
The Florn is a red flower with four large, slightly ragged petals surrounding the barbed green spike at its center. Like all Flowers, it is attached to a thick green vine with a single leaf sticking out of the back.
Overview
The Florn is the Flower species with the most battle similarities to the Rafflesia that spawned it, using powerful physical Bio attacks that can inflict Poison status with varying levels of power. It also has a multi-target non-elemental attack, but this is slightly weaker than its single-target moves and lacks special effects. When its HP is reduced to critical levels, it can sacrifice itself in a final attack, spearing a single target for significant, slightly Bio-based physical damage and a high chance of Poison. This attack can also be provoked by applying Syphon or Berserk to the Florn, giving players an option to quickly remove it from a battle at the cost of taking a big hit.
Compared to its fellow Flowers, the Florn is a straightforward offensive foe without many tricks beyond possibly Poisoning the victims of its attacks. Pairing up with a Frose is a mixed blessing for it; the frequent Cloudburst casts will reduce its weakness to Fire while amplifying its weakness to Ice. It shares its Wind weakness with the rest of its family (as well as Rafflesia itself), so moves like Hurricane or Power Metal will be most effective at taking them all down at once.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4
The Florn's moveset changes slightly between difficulty levels; it uses Nettle on Normal and below, and Vines on Hard or Epic. It is equally weak to Fire, Ice, and Wind, but absorbs Water and Bio while being immune to Poison. Enabling "More Foe Resistance" removes its Ice weakness and gives it an immunity to Attack and Accuracy debuffs.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5
The Florn underwent several small changes for its reintroduction to the series. The elemental degree on its Bio attacks was reduced to 25%, but their Poison-inflicting abilities were also lowered; in fact, only Suicide has a chance to Poison its target now (although the success rate triples on higher difficulties). It also enjoys slight boosts to its HP and the Base Power of its attacks, making it a little stronger and more durable than its EBF4 incarnation. As a Classic foe, it ignores Lovable and cannot be affected by Invisible or Enchanted.
Unfortunately for the Florn, its improvements pale in comparison to the new options that players can bring against it, particularly the increased viability and versatility of status builds. Aside from being forced to Suicide if hit by Syphon or Berserk, it can easily be afflicted with Wet, Light, or Dry to amplify any of its elemental weaknesses, immobilized with Stun or Freeze, and reliably slaughtered by Instant Death (either directly or by combining Doom and Bad Luck). Elemental resistance is minimally useful against it, so it's best to just kill it outright; alternatively, physically bulky and Poison-resistant parties can let it live to prevent more annoying support Flowers from replacing it.
Fire, Ice, and Wind do extra damage to the Florn, but it absorbs Water, Bio, and especially Thunder. It's also immune to Poison and Virus (which actually hurts it, since they'd act like free Regen for it) and has a modest resistance to all stat debuffs except HP. The "More Foe Resistance" challenge makes it neutral to Ice, very resistant to Stun, Chill, and Freeze, and quite resistant to Wet, Dry, Doom, and Instant Death.
As a Flower, the Florn is one of the few foes in EBF5 that cannot be Captured and used as a summon.

Trivia
- The Florn's name is a combination of "flower" and "thorn", with the latter alluding to its Bio affinity and penchant for stabbing players with sharp bits of vegetation.
