Dragon Scales are a recurring crafting item in the Epic Battle Fantasy series, introduced in Epic Battle Fantasy 3. It is a sheet of red scales used for forging certain pieces of Equipment, usually to their last two levels. The relevant equipment tends to be Fire-based, primarily red in coloration, and/or dragon-themed in some way.
In EBF3, Dragon Scales can be bought in The Town for 4,000 gold once they've been acquired through other means (e.g. chests, enemy drops). 52 are needed to upgrade all of the relevant equipment.
In EBF4, Dragon Scales underwent a slight visual update, with two small scales having flaked off of the main sheet. They can be purchased in the Misc Shop of Whitefall Town or Goldenbrick Resort for 4,000 gold. To upgrade everything, 74 are required.
In EBF5, Dragon Scales received another small visual update, which seemed to adjust the angle of the shadows on the scales. They also became much rarer and more expensive, only being sold at the Material Shops in The Great Sea and Redpine Town for 56,000 gold apiece. Only 18 will be needed for the relevant equipment.
Drop Rate
As the name implies, Dragon Scales are usually dropped by Dragons and other reptilian foes, such as Elementals and Turtles. They also has a chance to be dropped by Eyeballs and the Beholder in most of their appearances.
