Emerald Smasher
The Emerald Smasher is a Bio-elemental sword available for Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is currently exclusive to the paid Steam release of the game and the outdated free Battle Demo.
Description
The Emerald Smasher is a large two-handed hammer with a brown wooden shaft connecting the metallic head and pommel. The hammer's face has a slight point, and its peen is shaped like the head of an arrow or spear. A green stripe decorates the ends of the shaft, matching the color of the Emeralds adorning the cheek and pommel. The head also has green lines on either side of the cheek and a green square zigzag line around the poll.
The metallic parts of the Emerald Smasher are normally copper-colored, but they become silver when the weapon is equipped with the Heroic Armor, Scottish Kilt, or Priest's Tunic.
Normal
The Emerald Smasher is one of the rare Bio-based weapons that largely forgoes damage-over-time in favor of direct offensive power, boasting strong balanced offenses with only minor Accuracy and Evade penalties to worry about. Its specialty is inflicting Stagger, with its weapon-elemental skills having a good chance to land two turns' worth of it; they can also unleash Earthquake to potentially apply a stack to all foes (and non-resistant players). Additionally, the weapon lets Matt counter attacks with Nettle, adding some extra damage and mild Poison while still leaving Stagger for Matt's allies to exploit.
In comparison to the Black Fang, the Emerald Smasher has far more power and a more versatile status condition to inflict. While the likes of the Giant Slayer and the Soul Eater have even greater raw damage output, its Staggering potential and proficiency with Bio skills makes it a useful weapon for offensive support.
The Emerald Smasher resists Earth, Bomb, Stagger and Confuse. It becomes immune to the latter two at Level 5.
Equip Remix
With an Earth affinity and impressive Attack and Magic Attack, the Alt Emerald Smasher brings new meaning to the term "groundbreaking." While it lowers Accuracy and Evade by small amounts, it greatly empowers Matt's Earth skills, including its Quake counter and its Cataclysm unleash. Its Weapon-elemental skills also have a good chance to Dispel foes.
Since its unleash is just as strong as Matt's own Cataclysm, the Alt Emerald Smasher has good synergy with the Alt Meow Meow Badge and Alt Pet Rock flairs; if all of them are fully upgraded, Matt's Normal Attack will be guaranteed to trigger the unleash while also inflicting Heavy to boost its damage. This serves as its main advantage over the more statistically powerful Alt Hyper Drill and the more versatile Alt Lightning Shard.
The Alt Emerald Smasher resists Earth, Bomb, Stagger and Confuse, becoming immune to the latter two at Level 5.

The Emerald Smasher is found in a chest on the left side of the Crystal Caverns. The chest is revealed once the second block puzzle is solved.
