Steel Wraith

The Steel Wraith is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is generally found in the Iron Fortress and around The Rapture. It is a member of the Wraiths enemy group.

Appearance

The Steel Wraith is a ghostly figure completely covered by a gray and black hooded cloak. The only feature not obscured by this cloak is a pair of glowing red eyes. Two wavy, metallic horns protrude from the top of the cloak's hood.

Overview

The Steel Wraith is a mid-tier foe which mainly uses Dark and non-elemental attacks, though it also has a Bomb attack at its disposal. The Steel Wraith is capable of inflicting a small number of status effects with its attacks. The aforementioned Bomb attack, for instance, is capable of Staggering players; meanwhile, one of its Dark attacks can inflict Doom, and one of its non-elemental attacks has a small chance of inflicting Death. The Steel Wraith is also notable for targeting the player with the most health with its attacks.

Overall, Steel Wraiths do not have many resistances and so can be taken down fairly easily with the right skills. They absorb Dark (and also Bomb if More Foe Resistance is enabled) but are very weak to Wind and Holy, making skills such as Hurricane and Judgement great choices for bringing their health down quickly. Steel Wraiths are also immune to Bad Luck, Curse, Weaken, Tired, and Death, but this is simple enough to work around with a diverse enough set of skills.

Battle Logic

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If Syphoned, catch score >55, and all players are Lovable → Flee;
  • If Syphoned and all players are Lovable → Nothing;
  • If all players are Lovable → Kunai Volley;
  • If Syphoned → Double Stab;
  • If Berserked → Triple Shot;
  • Otherwise → Double Stab (1/5), Kunai Volley (1/5), Triple Shot (1/5), Sawblade (1/5), Dark Swoop (1/5).

The Steel Wraith always targets the least damaged player with its attacks.

Before the v2 update, the Steel Wraith's Berserk and Lovable behaviours had inverted priority.

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 25% and not Syphoned → Sawblade.

Additionally, if any front line player has equipment that scares Ghosts, the Steel Wraith will inflict 1x Berserk on themselves at the start of their turn (this does not take up their action).

Summon

The foe can be captured to be used as a summon, or be randomly summoned by Soul Crusher (staff).
