The Wrath of Zeus is a Thunder-elemental staff available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.

Description

The Wrath of Zeus is a golden staff shaped like a jagged thunderbolt; most of its length is relatively straight, but it becomes highly chaotic at the top of the staff. It appears to have a secondary section that's either naturally black or obscured by shadows. Small arcs of electricity crackle around the staff when it's equipped.

Normal

The Wrath of Zeus gives a strong boost to Magic Attack, as well as minor bonuses to Attack and Accuracy. It boosts the power of Thunder skills and adds some of its own to Natalie's existing complement of Thunder magic. It can unleash Plasma Cage with weapon-elemental skills, which has a high chance of inflicting 2 stacks of Stun. It also has a good chance of casting Thunderbolt between turns, improving the odds of Stunning foes while dealing decent damage; however, the Stun chance is low enough to be highly unreliable.

The Wrath of Zeus is mostly outclassed by the Gigavolt, which has better stats all around (except for a slightly lower Magic Attack) and a decently strong counter. However, Plasma Cage allows it to maintain a niche as a fairly consistent means of Stunning foes.

The Wrath of Zeus resists Thunder, Wind and Stun, becoming immune to the latter at Level 5.

Equip Remix

The Alt Wrath of Zeus has mediocre Attack, modest Accuracy and Evade, and a tiny decrease to Defence and Magic Defence, but its main feature is its tremendous Magic Attack. With this staff in hand, Natalie's already impressive magical offense becomes almost one-and-a-half times stronger, and its Thunder and Holy boosts further empower some of her natural skills. Its weapon-elemental attacks have a good Stun chance; with some status-boosting gear, Natalie can immobilize most foes just as easily as she can annihilate them outright.

However, this near-godlike power comes at a cost beyond slightly weaker defenses; the Alt Wrath of Zeus has a chance to Confuse Natalie at the start of every turn, preventing the player from directing her actions. It can also summon a Thunder Sprite to create Electric weather; while this provides another means of Stunning foes, it also runs the risk of affecting the party. The chances of either detriment kicking in are far from guaranteed, but heavy Stun resistance and/or substantial status-clearing support is almost necessary to use the Alt Wrath of Zeus to its full potential.

If the Alt Wrath of Zeus's downsides outweigh its benefits, the Alt Gigavolt is a safer (if less powerful) alternative for a Thunder-elemental staff. On the other hand, the Alt Slime Staff and the Alt Elder's Wisdom can be used as all-out offensive staves; they have less power than the Alt Wrath of Zeus, but their downsides won't make the player lose control of the party.

The Alt Wrath of Zeus resists Thunder, Holy, and Dispel, becoming immune to the latter at Level 5.

The Wrath of Zeus is found inside a chest in the only cell on the right wing of the Iron Fortress.
