Sandy Bush

The Sandy Bush is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is mostly found in the more arid portions of Hope Harbor. It is a member of the Bushes enemy group.

Appearance

The Sandy Bush is a mass of brown sticks which are sticking out of a blob of yellow sand. The Sandy Bush's face has two small yellow eyes and no other facial features. The Sandy Bush's head varies in appearance; while it always has sticks coming out of it, the amount of sticks vary and in some cases a small pink flower is also present. The sticks in the arms are always present no matter what.

Overview

As befitting a member of the Bush family, the Sandy Bush is a weak, early-game foe that is little more than a nuisance. Generally speaking, the Sandy Bush will only inflict minor damage. However, the Sandy Bush is capable of inflicting mild debuffs; it can debuff either Magic Defence or Accuracy. Although this alone does not make it a threat, it does mean that the Sandy Bush can be somewhat of a concern when paired with stronger foes.

Defensively speaking, the Sandy Bush only has a resistance to Water, which it absorbs. In terms of resistances it is weak to Wind, Bio and especially Ice. In terms of statuses it is vulnerable to Wet, Dry, Stagger and Confuse. As such, the Sandy Bush can be easily defeated in many different ways, as long as the player avoids using Water.

Battle Logic

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Surrender;
  • If Syphoned or Berserked → Hit (1/2), Bite (1/2);
  • Otherwise → Hit (2/5), Bite (2/5), Scream (1/5).

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 25% → Hit.

Additionally, if any front line player has equipment that scares Trees, the Sandy Bush will immediately Surrender and Flee on their turn.

Summon

The foe can be captured to be used as a summon.
