The Peridot Ore is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is found scattered across the map, largely in coastal areas and the Frozen Valley.

Appearance

The Peridot Ore is a small, roughly oval chunk of grey stone with two lime green lights for eyes. Its body is lined with numerous rounded chunks of peridot, almost resembling blobs or bubbles of toxic liquid.

Its main body is much darker during the battle with Vulcan.

Overview

The Peridot Ore will attempt to sacrifice itself at the first opportunity, hitting the players with one of two Bio skills. Overgrowth is stronger and has a decent Poison chance; on the other hand, Acid Blast hits the entire party and has a good chance of inflicting Burn. Either way, inflicting Syphon or Berserk will force the Peridot Ore to use a weak ram attack instead of killing itself; on higher difficulty levels, it may also forgo its suicide attacks if the party has high Bio resistance.

The best way to deal with groups of Peridot Ores is Bullet Hell and Fire Storm; Air Strike or Energy Barrage will work just fine if there's other types of Ores in the same wave. They also have no resistance to Instant Death, so using Shredder with Good Luck and status-boosting gear will clear them out efficiently.

The Peridot Ore absorbs Bio, is immune to Earth, Poison, and Virus, and resists both Water and Thunder. However, it is weak to Ice, Wind, Bomb, and especially Fire. With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, it becomes neutral to Ice, Wind, and Bomb, leaving Fire as its only weakness.

Battle Logic

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Surrender;
  • If Syphoned or Berserked → Bash;
  • Otherwise → Overgrowth (1/2), Acid Blast (1/2).

* On Hard/Epic, Overgrowth and Acid Blast have up to a 80% chance to be replaced by Bash depending on the player party's Bio resistance.

Before the v2 update, the Peridot Ore would attack with Acid Blast when catch score >55 and all players were Lovable, requiring Syphon or Berserk to force its Surrender.

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 33% and not Syphoned → Overgrowth.

Summon

The Peridot Ore can be captured and used as a summon. It sacrifices itself to cast a modified version of Acid Blast on all foes, dealing light magical Bio damage with a high chance of Poison.
