The Green Clay is a foe that appears in Epic Battle Fantasy 4. It typically appears in Lankyroot Jungle.

Appearance

Like the rest of its family, the Green Clay is a living clay statue sculpted in the image of an armored humanoid with a large helmet. Its body is predominantly green (as its name suggests, but its hands, feet, shoulders, waist, and helmet are dull brown. A small golden adornment on the front of its waist evokes a belt buckle, and its helmet has a short, fin-like crest on top. Its "face" is a yellow plate with a green sigil resembling a capital "Z" with a small perpendicular line near the lower end. Its weapon of choice is a brown clay bow with limbs vaguely resembling check marks; like Anna, it seems to summon arrows out of thin air when it wants to attack.

Overview

The Green Clay mainly attacks by firing arrows, which deal slightly Bio-based physical damage and having a chance to Poison their targets. It has three different arrow attacks, each based on one of Anna's skills; Piercing Shot has the best Accuracy, Combo Shot has the most power and the best Poison chance, and Arrow Rain hits the entire party at once in exchange for lower overall power and a weaker Poison effect. The Green Clay can also cast Gaia Bloom, dealing modest Earth-based magic damage with a good chance of stacking a lot of Tired on a single target.

Although it's certainly not the most dangerous enemy in the roster, the Green Clay can still pose a threat if its ailments are allowed to build up. Fortunately, it's easily thwarted with judicious use of Purify and other status-clearing means; alternatively, Poison and Tired resistance will neuter most of its threat. Berserk and Syphon can weaken it further by locking it out of Gaia Bloom, allowing the party to focus wholly on resisting its Bio damage (both direct and over time).

The Green Clay absorbs Bio while being immune to Thunder and Poison, but it's weak to Earth, Water, and especially Bomb and Fire. If "More Foe Resistance" is enabled, its Earth weakness becomes an absorption, its Bomb weakness is halved, and it becomes resistant to Weaken, Doom, and Instant Death.
