Blue Clay

From Epic Battle Fantasy Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Blue Clay is a foe that appears in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, 4 and 5. In EBF3, Blue Clays appear in Rock Lake and the Kitten Kingdom Ruins. In EBF4, they are found primarily in the Crystal Caverns, with brief later appearances in Lankyroot Jungle and the Temple of Godcat. In EBF5, they appear in the Data Bunker, modeled after their EBF3 version. It is one of many members in the Clays enemy class.

Appearance

Like all Clays, Blue Clay is a human-shaped living statue. It wields a jagged sword, and, true to its name, wears blue armor with a yellow belt. It has a "Z" as its sigil in place of a face.

Overview

The Blue Clay is a mid-tier foe that use primarily Physical attacks, with Wind magic alongside it. They may buff their Evade for themselves while attacking at the same time (EBF 3&5), or themselves and their allies in EBF4. They generally absorb Wind and Earth, are immune to Bio and Thunder, and are weak to Fire and Bomb.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3

The Blue Clay will initially use all their attacks without any thought, either a simple slash attack, a dash attack that hits all players and increases their own Evade, summoning a Tornado that deals Magic Wind damage and may lower the target's Attack, or repeatedly stabbing someone with their sword. On Epic difficultly, this attack hits 7 times instead of 4, increasing the total power to over 70, making it pretty dangerous if all hits connect.

At low health, the Blue Clay will stop using any attacks in favor of its multi-stab, which can be dangerous if anyone is low on health, as they may be finished off by the flurry of attacks. Syphoning them limits them to their Fence and Slash attacks, while Berserking them will cause them to do nothing but use their Slash attack, regardless of current health.

The Blue Clay absorbs Earth and Wind, is immune to Thunder, Bio, and Water, and very weak to Bomb and decently weak to Fire. On the status side of things, it resists nothing except Poison, making it very vulnerable to being debuffed or Stunned.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

The Blue Clay is a surprisingly simple enemy for how late you encounter it. They will use all their attacks at random, favoring their Slash attack, which will additionally cast one of two Wind spells, a slightly Wind based physical attack, their standard Fence attack, or they can use Reflex to slightly boost the Evade of all their allies. Their attacks do not change with their health, unlike EBF3, and Syphoning or Berserking them limits them to their Fence attack.

The Blue Clay is extremely weak to Earth and Bomb, and slightly weaker to Water, are immune to Thunder and Bio, and absorb Wind. They resist no statuses or debuffs aside from Poison. Enabling "More Foe Resistance" turns their Earth weakness into an absorption and lessens their weakness to Bomb, and they gain a decent resistance to Tired and Instant Death.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Blue Clay acts almost exactly how it does in EBF3, the only difference being that their health threshold to using only their Fence attack is slightly lower. All of their attacks have a fairly high amount of power, and are all very slightly Wind elemental, with their Fence attack becoming more powerful on Hard and Epic, hitting 7 times instead of 4. Their Tornado also gains an increased chance to debuff their target's Attack, which can be very annoying due to EBF5's different buff and debuff mechanics, as it will override any Attack buffs that they may have. Inflicting Brave on the target will prevent this from happening. Syphoning them locks them out of using their Tornado and Wind Slash, while Berserking them locks them to using only their Slash attack.

The Blue Clay is extremely weak to Fire, and slightly less weak to Bomb, is immune to Thunder, Bio and Water, and absorbs Earth and Wind. For statuses, they're immune to Burn, Chill and Freeze, Poison, Curse and Bad Luck, Stagger, Dry and Wet, Light and Heavy, and Tired and Weaken. They are also fairly resistant to debuffs, being 30% resistant to all debuffs aside from HP. With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, their Bomb weakness is lessened and they now absorb Water, and gain a decent resistance to Stun and Instant Death.
