The Blizzard Blade, known as just the Blizzard prior to Epic Battle Fantasy 4, is an Ice-elemental sword available for Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 2, 3 and 4. In the latter game, it was one of several new weapons added in the v3 update.

Description

The Blizzard Blade is a large bastard sword made primarily of blue ice. It has a large, tapering ice blade set in a metallic gray cross-guard, with small ice spikes on the pommel and sides of the cross-guard. There are mysterious symbols engraved into the middle of the blade. The hilt is proportionately small and wrapped in a brown leather-like material to function as a grip.

The Blizzard Blade is a powerful offensive weapon, usually with one of the highest Attack boosts of any sword in its respective games, while also boosting Matt's Ice skills. However, it comes with penalties to Accuracy and Evade.

Epic Battle Fantasy 2

The Blizzard is a strong, balanced weapon that has good offenses and defenses at the cost of modest Accuracy and Evade penalties. It is tied with the Anarchy for being the second most physically powerful sword (however, the Soul Eater has double the power, albeit with significantly weaker defenses), and can somewhat reliably Stun foes through its Unleash. It is also the only Ice-elemental weapon, and provides the strongest boost to Iceberg.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3

The Blizzard is a heavy-hitting offensive weapon that offers a huge Attack boost, average Magic Attack, and a HP bonus only matched by the Gaia Axe and the Avenger (although it's still not very high). However, this comes at the cost of Accuracy and Evade penalties. It can also debuff a foe's Evade by up to 50% by hitting them with Unleash, but this is something of a niche feature.

While the Blizzard is a powerful sword, it is generally outclassed by the Soul Eater, particularly for Berserker builds. Despite better defenses, no elemental weaknesses, and an exploitable elemental boost, the Attack gap between the two swords is such that its boosted Iceberg does identical damage to that of the Soul Eater and all of Matt's other attacks will be weaker in comparison. Coupled with weapon-elemental attacks that cannot be absorbed, the Soul Eater is ultimately a much more potent weapon and typically a better choice for all-out offensive builds, although the Blizzard's resistances can be useful for certain battles, especially when it is obtained.

The Blizzard significantly resists Ice and Water, up to 60% at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

The Blizzard Blade is a heavy-duty offensive weapon with excellent Attack, being tied with the Drill Lance and the Sapphire Giant for the fourth-highest Attack among swords in EBF4 v3. However, it suffers from sizable penalties to both Accuracy and Evade, as well as two elemental weaknesses. Unlike most weapons, it has a 100% elemental degree, which makes its weapon-elemental attacks more powerful against any Ice-weak and/or Wet enemy. Said weapon-elemental attacks may also unleash a rather powerful Iceberg thanks to its high host skill multiplier; this is further complemented by the sword's Normal Attack counter, which will occasionally trigger the unleash.

The Blizzard Blade is the premier choice for focused Ice offense as long as you can compensate for its Accuracy penalty; it has much higher Attack and a stronger elemental degree than the Ice Needle and provides more passive damage through its occasional counters and unleashes. Any Ice-weak foe, including bosses, will be torn to shreds by a fully Ice-elemental Cleaver, particularly if they have been inflicted by Wet first and even more so if the Iceberg unleash triggers. With all that said, however, the Blizzard Blade has little to offer outside of Ice damage; for day-to-day generalist use, other swords provide comparable Attack with less penalties, with the prime example being the Sapphire Giant.

The Blizzard Blade resists Ice, up to 50% at Level 5. On the other hand, it's weak to Fire and Bomb, with neither weakness changing as it is forged.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3

The Blizzard is found in Glacier Valley, inside a chest in the bottom-right corner of a dark cave. To reach the chest, two battles must be cleared; one appears as a Viking Monolith and the other appears as a Frozen Eye.

Trivia

  • In EBF4, the Blizzard Blade can be seen as the counterpart to the Inferno, both being swords with a 100% elemental degree that were added in the v3 update. However, while the Blizzard Blade focuses on dealing massive physical Ice damage, the Inferno is more geared towards giving Matt a mixed offensive approach and empowered Fire skills.
