Dragon's Feather

The Dragon's Feather is a wind-elemental sword available to Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is currently exclusive to the paid Steam release of the game and the outdated free Battle Demo.

Description

The Dragon's Feather appears to be made of blue steel or perhaps Mythril Shards, with white metal on the unseen side of the cross guard as well as on the hilt. An oval, teal-colored gemstone is embedded into its cross guard, which exudes a faint glow. The blade itself has a curved triangular section jutting out of it, with the center of it removed (possibly to make it lighter). The shaft of the blade has a brown material on it, ending in a blue and white pommel with three small projections.

Normal

The Dragon's Feather has one of the most accurate flavor texts of all time: it is a weapon that gives Matt immense swiftness and agility. Stat-wise, it is most notable for its huge Accuracy and Evade stats, with the second highest for the former and the single highest for the latter among all Swords; this is complemented by a strong Attack bonus. However, this comes at the expense of a sizable HP penalty, so pairing Matt with a Target tank or maintaining Auto-Revive on him is highly advisable.

In terms of special effects, the Dragon's Feather's main attraction is its ability to occasionally give Matt the coveted Haste status, letting him take two turns in a row. The extra turns can help mitigate the weapon's weaknesses and boost its versatility, although the low trigger chance makes building a strategy around auto-Haste unreliable at best. The sword also inflicts the Light status effect with its Weapon-elemental attacks, increasing Wind damage (such as its Gale unleash) while weakening Earth damage. Finally, it's capable of countering with a Normal Attack, although its frailty makes this difficult to exploit without Morale support.

All in all, the Dragon's Feather is an interesting weapon that can be quite useful if its main weaknesses are accounted for. It's primarily useful for all-out offense, with the occasional Haste being used to apply extra damage or potentially a self-buff with Temper; however, the Soul Eater tends to outdamage it. Additionally, NoLegs is arguably better for physical Wind damage, thanks to having access to natural Wind attacks and the Honjo Masamune (which can itself be considered a more extreme version of the Dragon's Feather).

The Dragon's Feather resists Wind, Ice and Holy. None of these become an immunity at Level 5.

Equip Remix

The Alt Dragon's Feather takes flight as a ludicrously powerful support sword with poor stats but an incredibly valuable effect. It significantly reduces all of Matt's stats aside from Accuracy and Evade (although its offensive penalties fade as it is forged), but compensates by guaranteeing Haste status on every single turn after the first. It can also summon a Sky Dragon between turns to debuff enemy Defence and hit all foes with physical Wind damage; however, this is an insignificant effect due to its low trigger chance.

While poor for offense, the Alt Dragon's Feather gives Matt immense utility as a supporter by letting him set up buffs and debuffs at literally double speed. It shares this niche with the Alt Accelerator, with its lesser offensive and defensive penalties being the trade-off for a lack of buff and debuff boosts and a more severe HP penalty. If more power is desired, the Alt Lightning Shard has entirely superior stats in exchange for the guaranteed Haste effect (although its own Haste effect still triggers fairly often).

The Alt Dragon's Feather provides resistance to Wind - up to an immunity at Level 5 - but is weak to Earth at all forging levels.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Dragon's Feather is found inside a chest in the southernmost room of the Deathly Hollows. The chest is surrounded by spikes that can be lowered by activating all four light-up tiles in the sliding block puzzle.
