Chocolate Slime
The Chocolate Slime is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It can be found scattered around the world, particularly in the Mystic Woods.
Appearance
The Chocolate Slime is a small brown blob of chocolate pudding; despite this, its Bestiary entry implies that it is inedible. It has two beady black eyes and a cat-like smile, giving it a ":3" expression.
There are three variants of Chocolate Slime, distinguished by the type of sweets on their head.
- A triangular shard of solid chocolate, surrounded by pale yellow crumbs of what may be biscuit or toffee.
- A small swirl of light brown whipped cream.
- A patch of dark brown fudge sauce with small white sprinkles and two rolled wafers on the right side of its head.
Overview
The Chocolate Slime is a largely inconsequential foe that exclusively uses single-target physical attacks. Most of its skills are very slightly Earth-based, except for the fully elemental Tremor and the non-elemental Wafer; while this makes them hard to resist, their damage output is unimpressive at best. Its most notable attack is Spit, which has a very small chance to Confuse whoever it hits. On harder difficulty levels, the Confuse chance is a little higher, and its basic jumping attacks gain a small chance to inflict Hungry.
Despite the potential to inflict some incredibly annoying status effects (one of which can't be resisted), the Chocolate Slime remains relatively unthreatening. If you don't want to risk being Confused or made Hungry, it can be easily picked off with multi-target skills, especially if the player has a source of Instant Death to exploit its serious status vulnerability. Its Evade is lower than average, which further reduces its life expectancy. As long as you avoid its elemental resistances, it should be very easily dispatched.
The Chocolate Slime absorbs Earth and is immune to Wind, but it's weak to Bomb, Dark, and especially Water; it's also massively vulnerable to Doom and Instant Death. Enabling "More Foe Resistance" removes its Bomb and Dark weaknesses while slightly reducing its Water weakness.

Battle Logic
The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.
Action
- If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Surrender;
- If Berserked → Jump & Back;
- If Syphoned → Jump & Dissolve;
- Otherwise → Jump & Back (1/5), Jump & Dissolve (1/5), Wafer (1/5), Tremor (1/5), Spit (1/5).
Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)
- 100% → Spit.
Additionally, if any front line player has equipment that scares Slimes, the Chocolate Slime will immediately Surrender and Flee on their turn.
Summon
The Chocolate Slime can be captured and used as a summon. It uses its Spit to hit a single foe for very light physical Earth damage and a strong Accuracy debuff. Although there are more powerful options for Accuracy debuffs, the Chocolate Slime is the easiest method to cripple a foe's ability to hit the party, especially given its cheap SP cost and the late availability of Flare.
