The Big Sludge Slime is a foe in Epic Battle Fantasy 4. It appears primarily in the Waste Disposal Plant.

Appearance

Big Sludge Slimes have transparent black bodies, beady black/grey eyes, and a wide, crinkling mouth. Much like the other Big Slimes, they have three smaller blobs of slime clustered around the main body. They also have all kinds of junk sticking out from their bodies, including metal pieces and barrels of toxic waste.

Overview

Despite being a bigger version of the Sludge Slime, the Big Sludge Slime has no Bomb abilities. Instead, it uses multi-target Dark and Poison magic attacks; they don't do much damage despite its above-average offensive stats, but they have a high chance to debuff Accuracy and Poison their targets. Its Poison attacks hit the foes as well as the players, allowing Bio-absorbent foes (such as the Big Sludge Slime itself) to heal slightly and gain a makeshift Regen effect. Its non-elemental physical attack is more powerful and has a modest chance to inflict Slimed, but it's also single-target.

On higher difficulty levels, the Big Sludge Slime enters battle with Poison status, allowing it to regenerate its HP from the get-go. Its Body Slam also has a much higher Slimed chance.

The Big Sludge Slime's disruptive abilities can be disabled with Syphon or Berserk, but mind the risk of someone being Slimed by the subsequent spamming of their physical attack. Inflicting Freeze is an even better way to incapacitate it, since it has a serious weakness to the status. When it comes to defeating it, the main issue is circumventing its high HP and near-constant regeneration; its low base Evade means that hitting it won't be too hard, even if it lands a few Accuracy debuffs.

The Big Sludge Slime is particularly weak to Holy, but Fire, Thunder, and Bomb will also deal severe damage. It is immune to Earth, resists Water, and absorbs both Dark and Poison. It has no status or debuff resistances, and is vulnerable to Freeze and Weaken. Turning on "More Foe Resistance" removes its status weaknesses, makes it neutral to Holy and Thunder, and gives it an immunity to Magic Attack and Magic Defence debuffs.
