Amethyst Ore
The Amethyst Ore is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. It is usually found around the Forgotten Ruins.
Appearance
The Amethyst Ore is a chunk of white rock (possibly marble, considering its resemblance to a Marble Boulder) that hovers in the air. It has two holes on its front side that glow with bright purple light, and the rest of its surfaces are dotted with round amethyst crystals of various sizes.
The Amethyst Ores summoned during the battle with Vulcan have black bodies instead of white ones.
Overview
The Amethyst Ore has the standard tactics of its family; it will sacrifice itself at the first opportunity to cast a spell. Compared to other Ores, it's a bit more offensively-inclined, casting either Zephyr Crystals or Energy Bomb as its final act; the latter has higher power and runs on its above-average Magic Attack, but the former multiple times and has a high chance of inflicting both Disable and a decent Magic Defence debuff.
Like most Ores, the Amethyst Ore is unable to sacrifice itself if afflicted with Syphon or Berserk, forcing it to use a basic ramming attack instead. Increasing the party's Wind and/or Bomb resistance can also reduce the effectiveness of its suicide attacks if they can't simply kill it before it self-destructs.
The Amethyst Ore always has an immunity to Poison and Virus, but its elemental resistances change depending on its appearance:
- The normal (white) variant is weak to Bomb and especially Dark, absorbs Holy, nullifies Earth and Wind, and resists all other elements. With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, its Bomb weakness becomes another resistance, leaving Dark as its only weakness.
- The black variant summoned by Vulcan is weak to Ice, Bomb, Water, and especially Thunder, absorbs Wind, nullifies Earth, Holy, and Dark, and resists Fire and Bio. With "More Foe Resistance" enabled, it resists Ice and Water while being neutral to Bomb, leaving Thunder as its only weakness.

Battle Logic
The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.
Action
- If catch score >55 and all players are Lovable → Surrender;
- If Syphoned or Berserked → Bash;
- Otherwise → Zephyr Crystals (1/2), Energy Bomb (1/2).
Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)
- 33% and not Syphoned → Zephyr Crystals.
Summon
The foe can be captured to be used as a summon. When used, an Amethyst Ore sacrifices itself to cast a modified version of Zephyr Crystals on the targeted foe, hitting them three times for physical Wind damage, a decent chance of Stun, and a high chance of a solid Magic Defence debuff.
