Summer Kimono
The Summer Kimono is a female armor found in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. Its hat counterpart is the Flower Bobble.
Description
The Summer Kimono is a yellow kimono with faint flower patterns and trim along the edges. It also has a dark red fabric belt wound around the midsection, as well as a red undershirt just barely visible over the neckline of the kimono. The undershirt is removed if Natalie wears the Summer Kimono while "Cleavage" is enabled.
Normal
The Summer Kimono moderately boosts all of Defence, Magic Defence and Evade. It empowers Thunder skills and may Bless its wearer between turns, giving her some insurance against dangerous status effects. However, its most interesting ability occasionally casts Cherry Blossom between turns, which has a chance to grant Haste to every active combatant (player and foe alike).
While Cherry Blossom may sound risky at best, it's actually quite manageable, even if it only applies Haste to the foes instead of the party. Since it activates at the start of the players' turn, they can easily kill, Dispel, or otherwise incapacitate the affected enemies before they get a chance to make use of Haste. The Viking Monolith summon is a more reliable means of giving Haste to the whole party, but it requires a massive amount of SP or the automatic effect of the Fur Dress, which has an even lower trigger chance than the Summer Kimono's Cherry Blossom.
Aside from Cherry Blossom, the Summer Kimono's defenses are on par with those of the Cow Costume and the Nurse Uniform; however, it's a bit more frail due to boosting Evade instead of HP. Conversely, its Evade makes it a bit better at survival than the Sami Dress, but it lacks offensive stats and its auto-Bless isn't quite as helpful as the latter's buff boost. It may work better on Anna than Natalie due to her higher base Evade, but either girl can get a lot of mileage from its elemental boost.
The Summer Kimono resists Thunder, Wind and Stun, with the Stun resistance becoming an immunity at Level 5.
Equip Remix
The Alt Summer Kimono has average Defence and the third-best Magic Defence among female armor. Its Thunder boost is helpful for either of the girls, and it has a chance to summon an Origami Wraith between turns; the non-elemental damage and Dispel is helpful, but the trigger chance is too low to be relied upon in a pinch. Its most notable feature is its ability to give the wearer Auto-Revive when she Defends herself - this gives it some use in a magic-focused Target tank build, especially since the armor also prevents the status from being Dispelled.
The Alt Summer Kimono can be considered the more defensive counterpart of the Alt Red Dress. Both have identical Magic Defence, Dispel immunity, and a boost to Thunder attacks, but the Alt Summer Kimono has slightly better Defence, two elemental resistances, and on-Defend Auto-Revive to make it easier for its wearer to survive on the front line.
The Alt Summer Kimono resists Water, Holy and Dispel, becoming immune to the latter at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5
The Summer Kimono is found inside a chest in the Mystic Woods, one screen east of the Slime Cat. The chest is guarded by a battle that appears as a Purple Squid.
