Chainsaw Blade
The Chainsaw Blade is a non-elemental sword available for Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 4.
Description
The Chainsaw Blade is a long, single-edged sword built around a chainsaw. The engine of the chainsaw is incorporated into the guard, with its tooth-lined belt running along most of the sword's cutting edge. The back of the saw is covered by a metal plate with a yellow and black "hazard stripe" pattern; along with the belt, the only parts of the sword's silver blade that can be seen are two points; one at the tip, and one protruding from the front of the guard. The back of the guard and the bulk of the hilt are dark red in color, with a grey hand guard extending from the front of the guard (just beneath the lower protrusion of the blade) and connecting to the pommel of the hilt.
The Chainsaw Blade has above-average Attack, very weak Magic Attack, and no other stat boosts. It is most notable for having no less than three ways to inflict Instant Death: as the status effect of its weapon-elemental skills, via the Sawblade said skills can unleash on hit, or through the Triple Sawblades it can randomly cast between turns. While none of these options have especially high trigger chances, being able to occasionally wipe out a foe instantly can shorten battles in the party's favor.
Compared to its gun counterpart, the Chainsaw Blade has the advantage of working into its wielder's preferred offensive; Matt can use his weapon-elemental physical skills more readily than Lance, who usually favors magic attacks. However, its Death infliction is so unreliable that Matt may be better served by the Drill Lance or the Sapphire Giant, which have even higher Attack and useful elemental boosts to further amplify the power of relevant skills.
The Chainsaw Blade resists Doom and Instant Death, becoming fully immune at Level 5.

The Chainsaw Blade is found in the Waste Disposal Plant, in the left chest on the toxic pool screen. The chest will be unreachable until The Stepladder is found in Goldenbrick Resort.

Trivia
- The Chainsaw Blade's design is based on the sword wielded by the Guardian in Epic Battle Fantasy 2. In turn, this means that it was originally designed as one of the many available parts in the Mecha Dress Up Game.
- Based on the EBF2 Bestiary entry for the Guardian's Sword, the Chainsaw Blade's in-universe designation may be "Chainsaw Blade EAH 4850".
