Sapphire Ore
The Sapphire Ore is a foe and a summon in Epic Battle Fantasy 5, mainly found in the Frozen Valley, it is a member of the Ores enemy group.
A respawning example can be found in Frozen Valley, map square C8, one screen east of the Slime Cat.
Appearance
The Sapphire Ore is a roughly oval chunk of grey stone with two small holes on its front. Bright blue light glows within the holes, serving as the Ore's eyes. The rest of the stone is dotted with round Sapphire stones, giving the vague (but fitting) impression that the Ore is covered in water droplets.
Overview
In typical Ore fashion, the Sapphire Ore's go-to strategy is to sacrifice itself in order to perform a Water skill on the party. Torrent is its stronger option, hitting a single player for physical Water damage and a fair chance of Wet. Alternatively, it can use Bubble Blast, which does less damage (especially coming off the Ore's pathetic base Magic Attack) in exchange for hitting the entire party with a very high chance of Wet and a mild Evade debuff. Either way, the victim(s) of the Sapphire Ore's attack will be a tempting target for enemy Ice or Thunder attacks; if there's incoming Chill, it can also turn into instant Freeze.
Fortunately, the Sapphire Ore's plans can be stopped in their tracks by hitting it with Syphon or Berserk; it will be forced to resort to a weak non-elemental physical attack. On higher difficulty levels, it can also forgo its suicide tactics if the party has high Water resistance.
The Sapphire Ore absorbs Water, resists Fire and Bio, and is completely immune to Earth, Poison, and Virus. On the other hand, it's weak to Ice, Wind, Bomb, and especially Thunder. If "More Foe Resistance" is enabled, it becomes neutral to Bomb, Ice, and Wind.
