The Hobo Clothes are a male armor available in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. Although they have no official hat counterpart, their resemblance to the Captain's Coat from past games and association with Matt means that the Captain's Hat could be considered their counterpart.

Description

The Hobo Clothes are a rather shabby-looking outfit somewhat resembling the Pirate Gear from Epic Battle Fantasy 3. They include a slightly wrinkled brown shirt, a ragged red neckerchief, and a black jacket with white trim along the bottom edge and three pairs of white fasteners along the inner edges. The jacket has long sleeves with frayed cuffs and a red patch sewn on the back of the right sleeve. The outfit also comes with dark red shoes, a black belt with a small golden buckle, and a pair of dark brown pants with several stains along the legs and a single lighter brown patch on the left knee.

NoLegs wears a simplified version of the Hobo Clothes that lacks the pants, belt, and sleeves; it also has only two visible pairs of fasteners.

Normal

The Hobo Clothes are a well-rounded piece of armor, with a solid bonus to Defence and Magic Defence as well as modest boosts for Attack, Magic Attack and Evade. They also empower Earth attacks and debuffs, but they're usually outclassed in these regards by the Genji Armor and the Coat of Teeth, respectively.

However, the Hobo Clothes are most noteworthy for granting the wearer the ability to steal items with single-target melee attacks. While not useful for combat purposes, this is a valuable asset for farming; fittingly enough, Matt is particularly effective in this role thanks to Steal Item.

The Hobo Clothes resist Bio, Stun, Death and Doom. They become immune to all but the first at Level 5.

Equip Remix

The Alt Hobo Clothes provide good Defence and Magic Defence, along with a tiny Evade boost. They improve Bio skills and the odds of capturing foes, and they have a decent chance to summon a Putrid Worm between turns. They also grant the wearer the ability to steal items with single-target melee attacks, which can be a great boon when farming for forging materials.

While not particularly effective for combat, the Alt Hobo Clothes have a nice assortment of utility functions for players looking to fully upgrade their equipment or complete their summon collection. They're an invaluable part of a stealing build, and the combination of a capture boost and an auto-skill that severely debuffs the Evade of a target lets the player save time when preparing to capture a foe.

The Alt Hobo Clothes resist Earth, Stun, Death and Doom; all but the first become an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Hobo Clothes are the default armor of Matt; as such, he wears them at the beginning of the game in his house.
