Bubble (known as Bubbles prior to EBF5) is a recurring Water-elemental skill in the Epic Battle Fantasy series. It has been used by certain foes ever since Epic Battle Fantasy 2, but it is available for players by using the Bubble Stone item in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, as a special skill available for Natalie and Lance in Epic Battle Fantasy 4, and as a special skill available for every player except Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.

Description

When cast, multiple small bubbles appear from the ground, dealing magical Water damage to the target. Additionally, it inflicts an Evade debuff in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, an Attack debuff and Wet in Epic Battle Fantasy 4, or just Wet in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.

In Epic Battle Fantasy 2, Bubbles is exclusively used by the Red Jelly and had a low chance of debuffing the victim's Attack. Strangely, it was originally Thunder-based despite its animation; it also calculated damage based on the user's Attack despite still being reduced by the target's Magic Defence. Both quirks were removed in the Epic Battle Fantasy Collection, making it a purely magic-based Water attack in line with the rest of the series.

In its earlier player-usable appearances, Bubble is mainly useful for giving the party a source of Water damage; this was lessened in EBF4 and 5, where Water attacks became more accessible, but it remains effective as a coverage option for Natalie or Lance. In its appearances as an upgradeable skill, it should be replaced by its stronger versions as soon as possible, like any basic skill.

Notes: Power is 30 when cast by foes, 70 when cast by players without Nimbus (staff) equipped on the user, or 140 (2x) with. Like Meow Meow, ignores user's Magic Attack stat and any bonuses to it, instead using the user's level * 3 formula to get a value to multiply the skill's power by. Also ignores Accuracy buffs and equipment bonuses to it, yet still considers the base stat and the bonus from permanent stat food, Lollipop.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

Bubbles is technically unlocked at the start of the game, though Natalie is the first character who can learn it. It is required to learn its multi-target version — Bubble Blast.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

Bubble is obtained by completing Moody's quest in Hope Harbor, one screen below the desert Slime Cat. Before the v2 update, Bubble was instead a reward for completing Fizz's quest in the top-right corner of the Rainbow River.

Compared to its EBF4 counterpart, Bubble has much less power per level and no longer debuffs the victim's Attack; however, it's also much cheaper to upgrade and its Wet chance is slightly higher at Level 2. It becomes Whirlpool at Level 3.
