Regice and Regirock - named Metaice and Metarock in the EBF Collection - are a pair of bosses fought in Epic Battle Fantasy. They appear in the game's fourth zone, an ocean-themed area, ambushing the party after the player beats a few waves of Crabs.

Appearance

Both Regice and Regirock are large, vaguely humanoid beings made of solid materials that befit their names. They have large bodies with proportionately smaller limbs (especially their legs) and no faces to speak of; instead, they have a pattern of seven yellow dots resembling eyes.

In the EBF Collection, Regice and Regirock were renamed and drastically redesigned to avoid copyright infringement. Notably, both had their previous dot "eyes" replaced by yellow visors, as well as the addition of noticeable metallic elements.

Regice/Metaice

Regice is made entirely out of blue ice crystals. Its main body is a giant ice crystal with its "eyes" arranged in a "+" pattern. Its arms are formed from large ice crystals with three projections on one side to act as fingers. It also has two small, pointed legs and four smaller crystals protruding from the upper half of its back.

After being redesigned into Metaice, Regice's ice crystals became pink, its arms and back spikes became diamond-shaped, and its eyes were replaced by a narrow yellow visor vaguely resembling an albatross in flight. Its fingers are now curved silver claws, matching the discs now serving as its upper legs.

Regirock/Metarock

As per its name, Regirock is made up of rocks, which are off-white and orange-brown in color. It has a slightly more humanoid shape than Regice, with defined shoulders and feet, as well as a protrusion on top of its body that acts as a crude head; its only facial feature are its eyes, arranged in a "H" pattern. Its arms and legs are made of several small rocks joined together, although the rocks that serve as its hands are noticeably larger.

After being redesigned, Regirock (now called Metarock) gained a predominantly brown body with dark grey rocks forming its shoulders and upper legs and silver rocks/tubes acting as its arms. Its head is broader and less defined, with the eyes replaced by a cross-shaped yellow visor. Its torso is dotted with small yellow sections, diamond-shaped silver studs, and a few grey wires.

Overview

The battle against Regice/Metaice and Regirock/Metarock is a three-wave affair, with Matt and Natalie battling each boss individually before fighting both of them at once.

Regice/Metaice

Regice is arguably the weaker of the Legendary Golems; it only has a single attack that hits both players, which can be defended against with Barrier. Also, Regice has a crippling weakness to Eruption and Fireball. Eruption is the more effective skill to use against Regice because it has higher magic defense than physical defense.

Regirock/Metarock

Regirock has a more dangerous move pool than its icy brethren; most of its attacks hit both party members at once. In terms of defensive stats, Regirock is the opposite of Regice; it has higher physical defense than magic defense. Regirock biggest weakness is Glacier, though it's also weak against Air Strike and Bob-ombs; that said, most magic attacks in general are effective at wearing down its health.

In EBF, foe stats are specifically set per wave, thus two foes of the same type may have different stats (resistances will still be the same). See EBF Foe Waves for a list of all foe waves.

Prior to the EBF Collection update, >100% resistances didn't work correctly in Epic Battle Fantasy, while the pop-up numbers showed the target being healed by the skill, their HP wasn't actually restored, meaning it was essentially the same as just immunity.
