The Crossbone Pin is a Flair available in Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5.

Description

The Crossbone Pin is a badge in a simple skull-and-crossbone shape; only the skull is visible on its wearer when it is equipped. As per normal flair standard, male characters wear it on their chest, while females wear it either on their skirt, or (in EBF4 only) on their hair if it is equipped in the third Flair slot.

The Crossbone Pin's appearance and effects vary between games, but it always replaces the on-hit status effect of its user's equipped weapon. In the case of multiple status-overriding flairs being worn together, only the one at the leftmost flair slot will have its effect applied to the weapon.

In EBF4, the Crossbone Pin is silver-white in color, with empty eye sockets. It overrides its owner's weapon status effect with Doom, with the status's "timer" becoming shorter at each level in addition to having a higher infliction chance. It also slightly resists Doom and Instant Death, up to 30% when fully upgraded.

In EBF5, the Crossbone Pin is off-white in color and gains tiny red pupils in its eye sockets. Instead of Doom (which is covered by the Fat Fly), it replaces the Cursed Charm as a Flair that inflicts Curse. Additionally, it provides some resistance to Curse, Bad Luck, Doom, and Instant Death, up to 50% at Level 3.

The Crossbone Pin is found in a chest behind Whitefall Town's equipment shop, guarded by a block puzzle.

The Crossbone Pin is found inside a chest in the Iron Fortress, one screen east of the entrance, the Magnetic Boots are needed to reach it.
