Arctic Wind

The Arctic Wind is an Ice-elemental staff available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 3.

Description

The Arctic Wind is dark blue in color. Its head has a blue crystal surrounded by two wing-like arches, but they are largely obscured by the irregular mass of blue-tinted ice covering the head. A small bit of ice is also attached near the bottom of the staff, which features a small spearhead-like pommel.

The Arctic Wind boosts Natalie's Defence and HP while providing three elemental resistances and respectable Magic Attack. It gives Natalie's weapon-elemental skills a good chance to Stun enemies; at Level 4 or higher, these skills also unleash Iceshard for extra damage that benefits from the staff's elemental boost. Its Unleash applies an Evade debuff to the target along with pure Ice damage; when fully forged, the Arctic Wind's Unleash is superior to a Level 2 Iceshard, but still weaker than a Level 3 Iceshard.

Among EBF3's selection of staves, the Arctic Wind is arguably Natalie's bulkiest option, being the only staff to increase both her Defence and HP in addition to having a useful on-hit Stun effect and solid Ice-based damage output. It's a solid choice against the Giant Squid if you can obtain it before that Boss fight (even more so if upgraded), but it can be difficult to use it to its full potential afterwards; Ice-weak enemies rarely use attacks corresponding to its resistances and vice-versa. The Nimbus and the Obsidian both trade one of the defensive boosts for slightly higher Magic Attack; the former also has generally better resistances, while the latter's Dark boost benefits Natalie's Black Hole Limit Break in addition to some of her natural spells.

The Arctic Wind strongly resists Ice, while having lesser resistances to Water and Wind. It won't be immune to any of them at maximum level, but it will halve incoming Ice damage and reduce incoming Water/Wind damage by 30%.

The Arctic Wind is given to the player as a reward for completing a quest at Rock Lake for Krystal.
