The Arctic Trident is an ice-elemental staff available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 5.

Description

The Arctic Trident is a grey metal staff with a spade-shaped pommel and a simple, blue-grey head with two small metal spikes. There is a small hole on the top and sides of the head, serving as emitters and/or attachment points for three pointed blue ice crystals that form the tines of the "trident". Smaller ice crystals dot the shaft above and below the grip, suggesting that it is actually cold enough to freeze the humidity in the air (which might explain its self-Chill effect).

Normal

The Arctic Trident provides solid boosts to both Attack and Magic Attack, along with small Accuracy and Evade bonuses. It powers up Ice skills (such as its own Iceshard counter) and applies Chill to enemies with its weapon-elemental skills, increasing Ice/Water damage and making them more vulnerable to Freeze (especially if an ally can follow up with a source of Wet). However, it also has a chance to Chill Natalie herself between turns: although this can work to her advantage against Bio attacks, it's a usually negative effect that'll make it much easier for Natalie to get Frozen.

Aside from its obvious use in Ice-based offense, the Arctic Trident can also unleash Deep Freeze on hit, which works with Chill to effectively ensure three turns of Freeze on non-resistant foes. While there are far more reliable ways to inflict Freeze (such as the Book of Spells Cat Toy or Anna's Frost Arrow skill), the staff stands out for its ability to leave its victims immobilized for even longer than the competition.

The Arctic Trident resists Ice, Wind, Burn and Scorch, with the latter two becoming an immunity at max level.

Equip Remix

With Equip Remix in effect, the Alt Arctic Trident becomes an interesting well-rounded weapon, boasting solid offense, good defense, and a status effect boost all at once.

The Alt Arctic Trident has a good amount of Magic Attack, the third-best Defence and Magic Defence of any staff, and a modest HP boost to round out Natalie's bulk; its Attack isn't great, but that isn't much of a concern for the party's resident mage. It boosts both Ice and Water attacks, giving it reasonable coverage with the help of shared skills; however, it'll struggle to match the offensive might of Natalie's "glass cannon" staves. Its Weapon-elemental skills can inflict Wet, potentially setting up combos with Thunder and Ice skills; its Ice Storm counter is relatively minor, but can add some extra damage if Natalie is targeted.

The Alt Arctic Trident also improves the chance of inflicting status effects, which stacks with other equipment to send Natalie's status infliction through the roof. However, Natalie is one of the worst players for status infliction, due to Rainbow Blast's halved status chance when cast as a multi-target skill. That said, she can still muster a powerful Syphon spell with the Alt Arctic Trident, and Equip Remix provides enough status-boosting Female Hats and Armor to let both her and Anna run a full status build. Even then, the Alt Alchemy Set and Alt Soul Crusher present stiff competition for this niche; the Alt Arctic Trident's main advantage is its more efficient offensive synergy, especially when paired with the Alt Bubble Dress.

The Alt Arctic Trident resists Ice, Water, Chill, and Freeze. It becomes immune to the latter two at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5

The Arctic Trident is found in the middle chest in the right wing of the Grand Gallery; a Golden Key is required to remove the Golden Block protecting it.
