Flamethrower

The Flamethrower is a Fire-elemental gun available for Lance in Epic Battle Fantasy 4.

Description

The Flamethrower is a compact version of its namesake with a predominantly burgundy frame. It has small, cylindrical fuel tanks mounted on its back, with dull yellow tubes connecting them to the pale red nozzle and ignition vent on the back of the weapon. The front of the frame has a clamp to stabilize the nozzle and a protrusion for a pilot light (the tiny flame that ignites the fuel as it comes out of the nozzle). It also has a segmented handle which seems to be a moving part, similar to a pump-action shotgun.

The Flamethrower provides a boost to HP, Attack, Magic Attack, and Lance's Fire skills. It can Burn foes with weapon-elemental skills, and its single-target weapon-elemental skills have a chance to cast Fire Blast for extra damage (centered on the initial target and boosted by the gun). It can also counterattack with Crush, which can Dispel its target while also activating its on-hit effects.

The Flamethrower's automatic Fire-elemental offense makes it quite useful when it is obtained outside of the predominantly Ice-themed Crystal Caverns. Later in the game, the Red Vulcan will exceed its offensive power, but the Flamethrower retains a niche due to its HP boost and Dispelling counter.

The Flamethrower resists Fire and Burn, becoming immune to the latter at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4

The Flamethrower is one of Lance's default weapons, and thus becomes accessible when he joins the party at the entrance of the Crystal Caverns.
